kertik:
If you are outside India, I am practically begging you to reblog this
- Last week India passed a blatantly anti-Muslim law that seeks to naturalise millions of immigrants, except if they are Muslims.
- In August of this year, India revoked the autonomous status of the Kashmir region, putting a communication blackout on the state. Kashmir has entered the fifth month of no internet and heaviest militarisation of any region in the world.
- India is a secular, socialist republic. This bill is anti-constitutional and against the principles on which the country was founded
- Naturally, there have been protests across the country. At the forefront of the protests are students from India’s public universities.
- Police opened fire on peaceful protestors in Jamia Milia Islamia University in Delhi, and Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh.
- Ever since then, the ruling fascist Hindu nationalist political party, the BJP, has been doctoring videos and sending fake news all over the internet, discrediting protestors and labelling them as terrorists
- India has already seen too much religious violence, please please signal boost this, call your representatives, make them aware, get them to make statements. The only thing India and itd dictator Modi care about is its image abroad
And that is just a small part of what is happening in india. The indian army under the orders of the bjp has imposed a curfew on the indian occupied kashmir since AUGUST. Thats almost FIVE MONTHS of continued blockade of food, live saving drugs and basically every human right.
And the valley of kashmir (the indian occupied part) is facing continued blockade and suspension of internet, mobile and landline services and closure of TV channels. Even the publication of local newspapers is suspended under the orders of indian army.
Pm of pakistan imran khan has made speeches in THE UNO regarding this matter but obviously, in vain. (And this issue of kashmir has been going on for 72 years now, mind you. But it was never this serious before)
At this point, its not even the indo pak dispute over the area. Its a question of basic human rights. The people of kashmir dont have food and water. FOOD AND WATER? And that valley is basically like the coldest part of india and pakistan and the people dont have even electricity and gas to use heaters. Schools, offices, shops basically everything is closed at this point. Quoting PM Khan, “in the western world, if this was done to an animal (let alone MILLIONS of HUMAN BEINGS), the whole world would have (rightfully) rioted. But the biggest most powerful nations in the world are not even trying to solve the problem because guess what, the kashmiris are muslims.
Pakistan has made multiple efforts to try and mantain peace over the area through talks and stuff but the bjp (aka pm modi) is not even listening. Thousands of people have been killed, and the growing tension in both the armies can cause a nuclear war in the area cuz both countries are nuclear powers.
And im not saying all of this is caused by the bjp government, but roughly 50% of this is bjp’s fault.
And that is just a small part of what is happening in kashmir for the last 5 months (and lets be honest, 72 years).
And
Do not even get me started on what is happening inside india. That country is a fucking slaughter house right now just because of religious differences. And under pm modi, the situation is getting worse and worse.
Just posting on social media and reblogging stuff wont help, but at least it will help people know about the "oh so perfect india” they all love and adore, because that country is a fucking mess right now.
